For me, this is an interesting scene because the houses are so different in building style to those in my country. Not only that but the street signs also look different. The light catching on some of the homes make some nice accents in the image.

  • Mooie overzichtsfoto. Het wit van de huizen springt er goed uit.

  • Nice tones in this image. I've discovered your site from a comment you left elsewhere, and find much that I like. Your B&W images, in particular, are beautiful. Good work.

  • I like how you placed the street in the compostion - the diagonal adds more deepth to pic.

  • Nice shot but a bit low key for me. Or maybe it's my screen which is wrong.

This is "Strépy-Thieu" - a little town in the southern part of Belgium. The picture was taken almost directly next to the top of the enormous boat-lift from this image (click). The little town has been cut into two parts at the time of construction of the 'canal du Centre', the large canal also visible in the image of the boat-lift.

    Technical info :
    • B&W conversion with Lightroom : adjustments on exposure, recovery, fill light, blacks, contrast, lights and channel mixer
    • Resize + a little bit of usm in Photoshop
    • Border with Bordermaker
