The dark tones are splendid and rich with black. I have to admit to finding the detail area of the ground/floor surface a little distracting or uncomplimentary but, fore see no way of reducing the detail in camera. Composition is great and gives an impression of the legs making an approach towards the ball.

Your composition is good. I just wish that the depth of field would be deep enough to include the ball. With the picture slanted it gives the picture an unsteady atmosphere and I actually like that. Also, if this picture was cropped more tightly, losing the empty space on the bottom, the picture would have greater suspense as the viewer is focused on the feet and the ball.

Technical info : converted to b&w with adobe lightroom, with adjustments on blacks, lights, darks, shadows and some channel mixing. Result saved as PSD. Photoshop was used for USM and save for web...
